Fostering Generosity of Spirit by Chris Whittle

Introducing the Founding Families Benefit Program

Whittle School & Studios has always seen as central to its mission the importance of Fostering Generosity of Spirit. That phrase was the heading of an important chapter in our original “book,” written four years ago this month, that describes Whittle’s vision. In that spirit, we want to present our appreciation for all the families who have supported us during this challenging Covid period—and, at the same time, make an invitation for other families in DC to join in the building of this great school. We call this the Founding Families Benefit. A 3-year, need-blind tuition assistance program, the Founding Families Benefit is designed to ease the financial burdens that often accompany maintaining a private school education during uncontrollable events such as the pandemic.

We recognize that the last year has been difficult for everyone. The onset of lockdown orders started to take effect in the US almost exactly a year ago and since then, we have all been on an unprecedented journey. This past year and likely the ones ahead have and will impact not only our school but all our current families and our future ones as well, including hundreds of new families arriving in Washington to be part of the new political administration. With that in mind, we would like to be a helpful partner.

We understand that the echoes of this pandemic may sound for months and years to come and we will be thankful to and supportive of all our families as we all get back “to the new normal.” Please take the Founding Families Benefit as our sign of faith - in the organization, in our community of families, and in the future.

I hope you are as excited by this new program as I am in sharing it with you. You can learn more about the program here
